           Where would I be...

With good earth, and good people?

About Land Heart and Sky

In my early twenties I had the calling.... and sought wise counsel to help me through formative times. I discovered Fires of Compassion and through counsel was supported to consider a way of assessment. Looking to develop a relationship with earthstewardship, what questions could I ask myself to discover my path? My love for nature, and my aspiration to be of care in gardening helped me to create a concept for service in business. I came up with the name: Land Heart and Sky while on a walk in nature. I saw my feet firmly planted on the ground, my heart bursting with joy, and my hands to the sky. This formed the name Land Heart and Sky.
I later enrolled in land care studies and I took on small jobs to gain experience. So good to learn from the ground up! I had the privileged to prepare land for growing, to grow food from seed, to harvest crops and prep them for market, to order and receive them, then prep and sell them. I enjoyed learning - all together I now hold good grounding and education in land care and food systems. This passion led me to working on farms, gardens, a farmers market, grocery stores, and in my local recycling and waste management depot.
Throughout this time my training in earth stewardship under Fires of Compassion inspired me to follow my heart in all that I do and listen to wise counsel. When challenged to keep an open mind and in good faith tought me to ask thoughtful questions. It encouraged me to be respectful and conscious in my actions and way of thinking. Its asked me to think about the whole when making decisions. To be patient, observe and give time to reflect.
I’ve been very challenged in my pursuit to care for land on Bowen Island. My challenges come from outside systems that work to prevent care and focus only to make profit - keep the power among the few. What I truly want and I’m working towards is to care for land with others in right relationship and to a higher standard.
The last ten years have me sitting on these questions; how can I create healthy gardens?
How can I work in right alignment with others? How can we uphold and respect the laws of the land? How can we bring in good standards to work to? How can we help support and protect each other and stay out of political violence?
